July 2008
I just received the cover for The Rebel and the Lady! I love the red dress! The art department at Harlequin has really outdone themselves.
The Rebel and the Lady takes place at the time of the Alamo, a time in history that fascinates me and one steeped in legend. (Did Travis really draw the line in the sand?) I sought to be as historically accurate as possible and also write a story that would capture the spirit of the west and entertain as well along with (of course) a wonderful love story.
Check out my contest at Fresh Fiction! You may win an autographed copy of my debut book for a summer “beach” read (after all—it is about the California coast!)
I am busy putting the finishing touches on my newsletter and will be mailing the first one soon. Take a moment to subscribe on my Home Page if you wish to receive information about my new books, promotions, and appearances right in your e-mailbox. I promise I won't “Spam” you!

Spring has been unusually busy with conferences, book signings and a trip to Printers Row Book Fair
in Chicago. What an exciting place, steeped in history (which of course, I love .) I was on the street
where Al Capone walked and from that vantage point I saw the window of Elliot Ness's office and also
Dearborn Station. I found several amazing antique pamphlets from the 1880s that will help me in my
research for future stories.
